Titans Snag Former Falcons TE Crumpler

The Titans have boosted their passing game, as on Sunday reports came out that former Falcon tight end Alge Crumpler agreed to terms with the Titans. Adam Schefter of NFL Network broke the story, as it seemed like it came down to two final serious suitors for Crumpler, the Titans and Seahawks, with the Titans winning out in the end. It was just back on Friday that Crumpler’s agent told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer that his client was close to signing with the Hawks.
So why the change? Likely it came down to the one thing that players like best - money. The Titans had plenty of money under the cap to give Crumpler what he was looking for, which was a deal worth about $4 mil per season. It was that money that took a few other teams out of the bidding, including the Carolina Panthers. Crumpler should have a lot of gas left in the tank, as he is only 31, giving him a few more solid years at the TE spot.
Crumpler last season caught 42 passes for 444 yards and five TD’s. In his career he has averaged 45 catches per season and has a career 35 touchdowns. He should add a solid boost to the Titans passing game, as he can stretch the field and make big plays for a TE listed at 262 pounds. No doubt that the signing will make Vince Young a happy camper.
