Playboy Covergirl elected to Russian Duma

And she may be a libertarian-conservative?

Maria Kozhevnikova, 27, who appeared on the cover of Russian Playboy in 2009, was elected to the Duma, Russia's Parliament, in that country's recent election. She was elected as a member of Vladimir Putin's United Russia party.

Miss Kozhevnikova is a singer and dancer, who got into politics when she was unable to find a job or afford an apartment, when she finished college.

From Business Insider:
Maria Kozhevnikova, a Russian actress and model, who appeared on the front cover of Russia's Playboy Magazine in 2009, will take up a seat in parliament when it convenes next week, reports the Moscow Times.

Kozhevnikova was voted Russia's sexiest woman by Maxim this fall. She won a car for doing so. And a tiara.

Previously, she was the leader singer of Russian pop group "Love Stories" which formed in 2002.
In Parliament, she will join fellow United Russia member and former Russian Playboy covergirl Alina Kabaeva. Miss Kabaeva is a two-time gold medalist in rhythmic gymnastics.

United Russia is, in the Russian political spectrum, a center-right party, with conservative and nationalist as well as market-liberal inclinations. Its main rivals include a center-left party, a left-communist party, and an ultranationalist party.
