A man has survived a plunge of 180ft (55m) over the Niagara Falls, becoming only the second person in more than 100 years to go over the falls with no protective device and live. The apparently distraught man, believed to be in his late thirties, jumped into the rapids above the Horseshoe Falls, one of Niagara's three waterfalls. After making it safely to the bottom, he repeatedly resisted attempts to save him, swimming away from rescuers and climbing out of a sling dropped by a priviate helicopter. The Historic Crowne Plaza Hotel , previously the Brock Plaza The Crowne Plaza has maintained its reputation over the past 80 years. Originally named the General Brock Hotel, planning began in 1927 with construction taking just over half a year to complete, at the time, establishing a record for this particular type of construction. By Gary Bender CNN (CNN) -- A man went over Niagara Falls and survived Wednesday afternoon, one of the few people to ever survive the plunge unprotected, authorities said. It is unclear whether the man chose not to aid in his rescue or was physically unable to do so, officials say.
