I reported Thursday on the swing set Barack Obama installed for daughters Sasha and Malia. Well now we've got the pictures, and yes it looks awesome enough for me to climb all over for half an hour before I get tired and slurp on a juice box. (Check out all the photos here.)

In other news, the president flew out to Columbus, Ohio, Friday morning to deliver a speech to a new class of police academy graduates. The class of 114 recruits is being put on duty thanks, at least in part, to money coming from the president's stimulus plan.

Obama's speech was half congratulatory and half self-promoting as he described the adversity he's received in his efforts to pass the stimulus package, and the economic decay experienced by many cities.

"This police force still faces budget challenges down the road," he saic. "There are still workers in Columbus who are losing their jobs. And there's still so much work to be done throughout Ohio to lay a new foundation for growth and prosperity. " (Read his entire speech here.)

The biggest news coming out of the White House today is that the president plans to reverse the Bush policy on stem cell research on Monday. (More on that here.)

Michelle Obama

Oprah Winfrey announced Friday that she would be ending her nine-year solo run on the cover of her O magazine, as she would be joined by first lady Michelle Obama.

For those curious, Michelle warned Oprah that the pie in the White House was "dangerous." (More here.)

Also, it turns out Michelle might have told the notoriously egotistical singer Beyonce Knowles that Sasha and Malia look up to her. Of course, some are casting doubt on this story.
