U.S. first lady Michelle Obama serves lunch at Miriam's Kitchen which provides meals, case management services and housing support to nearly 250 homeless men and women March 5, 2009 in Washington, D.C. The visit was a part of the first lady's effort to connect with the Washington, D.C. community and also highlight the city's best practices. More from
the New York Times:
The people who stopped in to eat on Thursday said they were stunned to see Mrs. Obama, who shook many hands in addition to serving food. George Rivera, 52, who found a job and a home with the help of the staff at Miriam’s Kitchen, could not stop smiling. “I never imagined this, not in 100 years,’’ he said. It's acts like this that draw national attention to Michelle, and it might be why CNN's Jack Cafferty apparently has a crush on the stylish White House matron.
In a column that
ran on CNN.com Tuesday, Cafferty says "I think I am developing a crush on America's first lady. Michelle Obama is more compelling than her husband. He's good, but she's utterly fascinating."

Malia came home from school Wednesday
to find this swing set waiting for them on the White House grounds. The President purchased the 100% cedar and North American Redwood play area from Rainbow Play Systems of Brookings, S.D., whose Web site was inundated with traffic as the news broke.
Barack Obama
U.S. President Barack Obama speaks during the opening session of the White House's forum on health care reform in the East Room of the White House on March 5, 2009 in Washington, DC. Pointing to statistics that say the cost of health care now causes a bankruptcy in America every 30 seconds, Obama called on about 120 guests, including doctors, patients, lawmakers and health insurers, to help quickly fix the skyrocketing cost of health care. Barack Obama met with a forum on health care to talk about how best to reform the system. He later appeared before reporters to clue them in on the discussion.

"The status quo is the one option that is not on the table," he said. "And those who seek to block any reform at any cost will not prevail this time around."
Obama took a break from the forum to meet with actor
Brad Pitt. The actor was in Washington to appeal to
Nancy Pelosi and other representatives for better recovery efforts to help New Orleans. As for the Pitt/Obama discussion, we can only imagine what the two might have talked about, but Pitt was looking
absurdly good looking next to Pelosi and Majority Whip Rep.
James Clyburn (D-SC).
In other news, Rush Limbaugh just won't quit lately. The radio host
challenged Barack to a debate Wednesday, but he's crazy if he thinks the president would accept.
