Sabrina Spellman And Friends Are Paying Us An Extra Special Christmas Visit

Sabrina and the Greendale gang will return December 14 for a special spooky (yet cheerful) Christmas episode.

When I finished binge-watching Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix, I was distraught that I'd have to wait another year for more episodes. Santa must have heard my wishes, because Netflix is giving us a Chilling Adventures of Sabrina holiday episode called "A Midwinter's Tale," which will be available to stream on December 14.

How do the Spellmans and their cult celebrate Christmas? Given how fearlessly the show has tackled religion and that the holiday is based on a Christian belief, the show's writers should deliver an excellent holiday twist.

Can Melissa Joan Hart send her "best witches" from the set as Mrs. Claus?

The official description released by Netflix reads:

"The Church of Night, like all covens, celebrates the Winter Solstice — the longest night of the year — when families gather together around the Yule Fire to sing pagan carols, tell ghost stories and huddle against the supernatural creatures that come out to cause mischief. Since the Winter Solstice is when the veil between this world and the next is at its thinnest, it’s the perfect time to conduct a séance — which Sabrina convenes, to try and contact her mother. But the holidays are also a time for guests and visitors — both welcome and unwelcome — and you never know what might come down the chimney."

So, technically, the Church of Night isn't celebrating Christmas. However, because Sabrina is half mortal, it's unlikely that we won't see any mortal influences. Zelda will be the biggest protestor at Christmas dinner, don't you think?

The video below offers a tease of the holiday special, which has clearly been in the works for some time. In it, Sabrina rocks her platinum blonde hair — an indication this episode takes place after the events of the Season 1 finale — as she hangs out with Hilda and the two prep for the upcoming holiday.

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, creator of Sabrina and Riverdale, also teased the special episode on Twitter, and fans lost their minds.

Same!

While details are scarce, the episode's official photos give us a glimpse into the episode, and we're excited to see how Sabrina will act now that she's signed her name in the Book of the Beast.

We may have left the spooky fall season behind, but that doesn't mean the frights are over. Hilda looks defensive as she stands in the kitchen preparing food for the occasion, which could mean Zelda is on the war path again.

Just kidding (I hope)! However, Hilda is looking rather tense, so who (or what) is messing with her holiday plans? Also, will Ambrose and Luke finally realize Luke is under the influence of the love potion Hilda slipped into his drink? On a show like Sabrina, it seems fitting that a beautiful scene like that would be the backdrop for a breakup.

Susie is also a part of the fun! She's taken a job as an elf while Roz looks like she's having a good time elsewhere. In another shot, Sabrina and Harvey come face-to-face after their breakup. Eeesh.

Another note: Ms. Wardwell (aka Lilith) hasn't left Baxter High. Maybe now that Principal Hawthorne is demon chow, she's taken up his position? Meanwhile, the Weird Sisters look up to no good, as usual. What's that Prudence has in her hands?

I'm beyond excited for this special episode, but I hope it will push the show's plot along instead of standing alone. While novelty episodes are great, when it comes to this genre, they usually don't fare well. Just look at the Pretty Little Liars holiday episodes.
