A horrible crash for Allan McNish in the opening hour of the 2011 Le Mans 24 Hours, he tried to pass one of the slower cars, made contact and went hard into the barriers. Luckily he and everyone behind that barrier escaped unhurt. McNish had enjoyed a superb start from fifth on the grid to be running second.
