Allen Andrade is accused of murdering Angie Zapata, an 18-year old Latina transgender woman after discovering she was born a man. The murder trial of Allen Andrade ended today, with Andrade being found guilty of first degree murder and bias-motivated crime in the death of Angie Zapata, an 18-year old Latina transgender woman.

Andrade was accused of murdering Zapata after discovering she was born a man.

Two very different stories are emerged during the trial, with prosectuors saying that Andrade was a homophobe who took out his rage on Zapata, and defense attorneys saying Andrade was the victim of Zapata's deception.

It took the jury only two hours to come to a decision.

From the examiner.com:

Allen Ray Andrade's 'trans panic' defense couldn't sway the jury in the Angie Zapata murder case and he was found guilty in today's verdict.

HRC President Joe Solmonese issued a statement on the verdict that said, in part, "The murder of Angie Zapata, just 18-years-old, is a tragic reminder of the hate and ignorance that threatens the transgender community every day."
