Old Standbys With Sequels
It must be approaching Christmas time once again as we have little rodents showing up on the big screen again with a new movie. Alvin and the Chipmunks make their traditional Christmas big screen appearance. This time it’s with a movie entitled Chipwrecked. If singing chipmunks aren’t your style, maybe you’ll like the spy options for the weekend. Sherlock Holmes opens in wide release while Mission Impossible gets a jump start before it’s big opening next week.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows – PG-13 on 3,703 screens
Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law return as the iconic detective and his sidekick Watson in this sequel. This time they’re after the villainous Professor Moriarity. Jared Harris and Rachel McAdams also star.
Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked – Rated G on 3,723 screens
In the third film in the series the Chipmunks and the Chipettes find themselves seemingly stranded on a deserted island. Jason Lee returns as the Chipmunks’ owner, Dave. The voice cast includes Justin Long, Jesse McCartney, Amy Poehler, Anna Faris and Christina Applegate. The film is also screening in 3D.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol – PG-13
In the fourth film in the series, Tom Cruise’s IMF spy character, Ethan Hunt and his colleagues are blamed for a bombing of the Kremlin. He tries to clear his agency of wrong-doing. Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg and Paula Patton also star.
