Miss USA 2011, A.K.A. Alyssa Campanella was considered a Miss Universe favorite, but didn't even make it to the top 10 Monday night in Sao Paulo! The raven-haired beauty was selected as one of the sixteen semi-finalists but didn't make the final cut. Here's what you need to know about the lady who broke Americans' hearts last night:Campanella has been praised for her poise, outgoing personality and eloquence. She has remained unscathed by scandal but many Americans have felt lukewarm about her. On her Twitter page, her bio says "Born in the wrong time period" and she calls herself a "model, foodie, nerd, and redhead". Campanella is reportedly dating actor Torrance Coombs.
She was born on March 21, 1990 in Manalapan, New Jersey. She was crowned Miss Jersey Teen USA 2006 and placed first runner-up for the next year's Miss Teen USA. She competed in Miss New Jersey twice and finally won Miss California in 2010, before winning Miss USA 2011.
Campanella didn't seem too sore of a loser on Tuesday, when she tweeted: "And congratulations to our new sister Leila Lopes from Angola! A brunette, a redhead, and a blonde for 2011! #teamuniverse". Apparently, there were some rumors Campanella purposely dieted so she'd get thin enough to lose. She called those rumor-makers "dumbasses". Touche.
