Amazing Drug Seizures

According to the US Government, problems associated with illicit drugs -- from drug-related deaths, to the environmental impact that results from the production of them -- cost nearly $215 billion annually. So needless to say, officials are pretty happy when they make huge seizures.
U.S. Coast Guard crew members unload bricks of some of the 700 pounds of marijuana they seized from a 35-foot vessel on September 9, 2009 in Miami Beach, Florida. While on routine law enforcement patrol in the Florida Straits, the Coast Guard Cutter Drummond stopped a suspicious U.S. flagged vessel at about 6 a.m. Wednesday. The crew of the Drummond boarded the vessel, found the marijuana and detained two suspects.

Drug smuggling is a huge business. A billion dollar industry in fact, that fuels wars in Mexico and violence around the globe.
