John Gardner, the registered sex offender who confessed to raping and killing teens
Amber DuBois and
Chelsea King, was sentenced to 3 consecutive life terms today, according to
CNN. He pleaded guilty to the crimes April 16, and faced the girls' families today in court.

"What I feel is so much deeper than I ever dare to express in a public forum. There are things I'd like to say, but to protect my son and to maintain the dignity of my family, my words will be far too mild to adequately speak the disgusting truth about you," Kelly King, Chelsea's mother, said.
Gardner was arrested February 28, only 3 days after Chelsea vanished while on a run near he San Diego area home, while DuBois had been missing since February 2009. Gardner admitted he had raped and killed her after being taken into custody for the King murder and then led authorities to her remains.
He escaped eligibilty for the death penalty by pleading guilty in the murders of both girls.
