Protect Your Children Today With the Amber Alert Registry

Did you know that every forty seconds a child is reported missing in the United States? 800,000 children are reported missing every year. Half of those children are between the ages of 4 and 11 years old.

The AMBER Alert Program (America's Missing Broadcast Emergency Response) is named after 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, who was abducted in 1996 in Arlington, TX. The Amber Alert is a broadcast message sent through several media outlets in cooperation with law enforcement when a child is abducted or missing.

The AMBER Alert started in January 1996 when citizen's in Hagerman's community learned that local law enforcement had information that might have helped to locate her shortly after she was abducted but no way to distribute the information.

The AMBER Alert first began with radio broadcast messages then with the help from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in 2002 it was expanded. Now the AMBER Alert can be heard and seen throughout the nations emergency radio and television response network.

AMBER Alerts are effective but why should you register your child with the AMBER Alert Registry? The AMBER Alert Registry saves law enforcement precious time when a child is abducted. After your child is registered you can direct local law enforcement to the AMBER Alert Registry website and give them your child's user name and password. They will then be able to download the missing child's profile. Once your child is registered you may also be able to e mail your child's information to anyone you choose. You can also download your child's profile to your computer. Information can also be stored on a flash drive for future use and safe keeping.

Here is how the AMBER Alert Registry can save time and your child's life.
