New Addicts Kick off Celebrity Rehab Season 2

Watching Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew just seems wrong. Peering into people's lives when they're at their lowest and finding entertainment in it is not only invasive but in a way perverse. Still, we watch it (at least I do) and although we know reality TV is anything but real, Celebrity Rehab may be the closest to real you're going to get.

In the second season, which aired on VH1 Thursday celebrity addicts check into rehab and are evaluated by Dr. Drew. In this season's cast are:

  • Rodney King who was beaten by Los Angeles Police officers in 1991 and is now an alcoholic.
  • Nikki McKibbin a singer and former American Idol contestant.
  • Steven Adler former drummer of Guns N' Roses
  • Tawny Kitaen an actress and model.
  • Amber Smith a model and actress addicted to various pain medications and anti-depressants.
  • Jeff Conaway returns from season one to recover from his various back surgeries and addiction to painkillers.
  • Sean Stewart son of singer Rod Stewart.

Gary Busey also checks himself in, not for addiction (as you'll hear over and over on the show he's been clean and sober for 13-years) but to go through the program with the other patients and help them through it with his experiences. Trust me, he has a lot of experiences. Dr. Drew has already asked a specialist to evaluate Busey to make sure he didn't sustain any major brain damage from his 1988 motorcycle crash.

Pretty much the first show of the season taught me two things: That addiction is bad and Gary Busey is crazy.

You can watch Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew Thursdays at 9 p.m. on VH1.
A happily married woman. The owner of the cutest dog ever. A journalism graduate. A girl who just loves sports and beer, preferably at the same time.
