Proof That Gavin Newsom is Kind of Sleazy

(Getty Images)more pics »When San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom was up for reelection in 2007 he won without any serious challengers, racking up 72% of the vote. You wouldn't know it by the results, but earlier that year, Newsom's part in a very messy love triangle was revealed. The scandal proved that behind that slicked hair and those white teeth, Newsom actually is kind of sleazy.

On January 31, 2007, Newsom's long-time friend, campaign manager and deputy chief of staff Alex Tourk visited the mayor's office at City Hall. The two had a "pointed" conversation according to an unnamed source, and when Tourk left the building, he left his old friend to his own devices.

Newsom had just been confronted by Tourk about his affair with Tourk's wife, radio personality and appointments secretary to the mayor, Ruby Rippey-Tourk.

Ruby told her husband about the affair as part of a rehab program she had been going through for substance abuse. Ruby reportedly said the affair was brief and it happened in 2005, while Newsom was going through his divorce from Fox News personality Kimberly Guilfoyle. (San Francisco Chronicle; Feb. 1, 2007)

Ultimately Newsom came out unscathed, but you have to question the moral character of a guy who is capable of sleeping with his best friend's wife.
