The first "cycle" premiered in May 2003 and was one of UPN's highest rated shows. The show's seventh cycle was the first of the shows among regular programming on UPN's successor network, The CW, and thus far is the fledgling network's highest rated series . The opening theme is sung by Tyra Banks and is produced by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins. The show's Cycle 7 has been the most watched primetime show on The CW . Banks co-produces the show with Ken Mok and Anthony Dominici.

Cycle 11 of America's Next Top Model premiered last night on CW. The futuristic theme in the beginning with Alpha Jay, Beta Jay and Tyra-Bot was a little to much for me. But other than that, I think this will be another great season! Duuude. I love Sheena Sakai, the lone Asian-American contestant on America's Next Top Model Cycle 11, which premiered last night. America's Next Top Model has never been kind to Asian girls. There have been few contestants of East Asian descent on the show (Gina and biracial April) are the only models who come to mind), although Tyra Banks constantly pats herself on the back about how diverse her casts are.
