American Gladiators is a television series that pits uber strong "gladiators" against normal athletic contenders. The popular series ran from 1989 to 1996, when it went off air. It was revamped and brought back to cable television in 2007 by former pro wrestler Hulk Hogan and female boxer Laila Ali.

While Kristi Yamaguchi was kicking butt on the ballroom floor at the Dancing with the Stars finale on Tuesday night, Laila Ali was taking a beating in the audience. The six-months pregnant season four Dancing alum tells PEOPLE that her unborn son "was kicking me like crazy" during the show.

Due to less than great summer ratings, NBC has pulled the plug on American Gladiators. Now I'm not into reality TV , but I got behind this show. Sure, most of the contestants never stood a chance against the mountains of humanity that comprised the Gladiators, but that was half the fun. It was a fun show to sit down and tune out to for a little while, and while some things we're pretty cheesy (Titan Hulking out?), it was a entertaining show overall. Too bad it's done now.
