The 'American Idol' alum has made used of his official YouTube channel to post a video in which he explains about his decisions for parting ways with record label Jive and management company.
David Archuleta has opened up about the reason why he left his management company. On Tuesday, February 22, the season 7 runner-up of "American Idol" took it to his YouTube channel to post a video message for his fans. In it, he explained that he made the decision to have control over his life.

"I know a lot of you have been worried about it; hearing that I'm no longer with my record label, Jive and I'm no longer with my management as well," the 20-year-old singer began addressing the matter. He went on to share that he has been pondering about "Who is David supposed to be?". He also revealed that he's been writing to see "what sound comes from my head."

David continued to talk about him being dropped by Jive Records. Noting that Jive is "changing as a company", he stated, "And, then, I feel like I'm changing as an artist. I'm changing the direction I'm going, too. There were offers to continue working with them, but it just didn't feel like the right thing now."

As for him parting ways with Wright Entertainment Group, the "Crush" singer explained, "I realized this is not where I need to be right now." He added, "It's scary making those decisions sometimes. Is this the right decision? I've learned also you have to follow your gut. Sometimes it hard to make a decision but it's the right thing to do. It took me a while to realize, I have control over my life."
