An attack on parents is underway by the nations of the world, and that threat is now at our doorstep. Disguised under a seemingly well intentioned name, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the international treaty would virtually strip the rights of parents to be the authority over their children in every aspect of life. Instead, the government would be handed control and even be bound by this international law if the treaty is signed. In addition to parental rights being at risk, a large chunk of our national sovereignty would be handed over to an 18 member panel of so called “experts” from other nations sitting inGeneva.

If signed by the United States, we would be bound to its stipulations under Article VI of the Constitution which states, “This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.”

The key here is that last phrase of article VI, “any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.” What this means is that so long as the United States Constitution or the laws of any state do not have any existing laws on the books that are contrary to the treaty, that treaty will become the law of the land. So far their is no statement in the United States Constitution which explicitly protects parental rights. The founders never imagined that we would ever need one!

This is why some states have hurriedly introduced legislation which runs contrary to the verbiage of this insidious treaty, but there is work to be done. Not everyone in this nation is horrified by the implications, and there are some who would welcome such a massive power grab by the government, the largest in our history.

Under the CRC treaty:

• Children would have the ability to choose their own religion while parents would only have the authority to give their children advice about religion.

• The best interest of the child principle would give the government the ability to override every decision made by every parent if a government worker disagreed with the parent’s decision.

• A child’s “right to be heard” would enable that child to seek governmental review of every parental decision with which the child disagreed. Talk about the tail wagging the dog!

• According to existing interpretation, it would be illegal for a nation to spend more on national defense than it does on children’s welfare. Certainly this will please the big entitlement crowd, but even worse, this would mean that a panel of 18 people inGeneva would be in control of the budgets of every nation on this planet, as if they even had that nation’s best interest at heart, or understood the unique complexities and needs of that nation. Quite easily this could mean that these random 18 people would hold the fate and the very existence of each and every nation in the palms of their hands!

• Children would acquire a legally enforceable right to leisure. Just in case your teenager wasn’t already unmotivated, this will only exacerbate the issue!

• Christian schools that refuse to teach “alternative worldviews” and teach that Christianity is the only true religion “fly in the face of article 29″ of the treaty. Notice the only faith under attack is Christianity.

• Allowing parents to opt their children out of sex education has been held to be out of compliance with the CRC. Other nations that have similar laws on the books have removed the right of parents to oversee what their children are exposed to, when they are exposed to it, and it what context. This means you will no longer raise your children. They will now be raised, socialized, and brainwashed by the state.

• Children would have the right to reproductive health information and services, including abortions, without parental knowledge or consent. You know abortion activists are loving this end run around laws currently on the books in many states that require parental notification. On a side note, have you ever noticed those who say they are “pro choice” are only in support of one choice; the one that opts for an abortion. Make no mistake; this industry has made billions encouraging ever younger sexual experimentation, to increase sexual activity among the youth, so they can keep their profit machine raging on. But that is another topic entirely.

• Parents would no longer be able to administer reasonable spankings to their children.

• A murderer aged 17 years and 11 months and 29 days at the time of his crime could no longer be sentenced to life in prison.

Efforts are under way to stop this treaty upon arrival in the United States, but they need your help! As we speak ParentalRights.org is championing SR 99, a United States Senate Resolution to block the CRC. So far they have 37 sponsors and you can see what Senators have stood up, and behaved as true patriots in defiance of this threat to the family and United States sovereignty.  So far, all Senators in support of opposing the CRC treaty are Republican. Not one Democrat has stepped forward to protect our national sovereignty or parents rights. Go to this ParentalRights.org page to see if your Senators have signed on. If not, be sure to call them until they support it.

Anyone who calls themselves a Christian must be opposed to this law which is an affront to God. The Bible is very clear in placing the parents in charge of their children’s upbringing. The Bible charges parents to “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.” ~Proverbs 22:6 

Repeatedly the Bible admonishes children to obey their parents, not the state. “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with promise: ‘that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.’ ” ~Ephesians 6:1-3

When the family unit functions improperly and societies have championed the breakdown of the traditional roles and popper respect for the family, history shows those societies have disappeared from the earth.
