Amir Khan successfully stepped up a weight division to capture the World Boxing Association (WBA) light-welterweight title from Andreas Kotelnik with a unanimous points win here Saturday. The British boxer won his first world title by earning a 120-108, 118-111 and 118-111 verdict at the MEN Arena in Manchester over Ukrainian Kotelnik, who was making his third defence of the belt he won last year. Khan backed up his claim that he will be better at light-welterweight, despite previously predominantly campaigning at lightweight since winning a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics. LONDON (Reuters) - Briton Amir Khan was crowned World Boxing Association (WBA) light-welterweight champion at the age of 22 on Saturday after convincingly beating Ukraine's Andreas Kotelnik with a unanimous points decision in Manchester.
