The name of Andaman and Nicobar Islands brings to our mind an image of palm trees, white beaches, green forests, sound of waves breaking on a coral reef, and chirping rare birds. It has many islands, islets and rocks, It is also home to some of the oldest tribes in the country.

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - A strong aftershock struck India's remote Andaman Islands on Saturday but there was no tsunami alert and there were no reports of damage, officials said.  

A moderate intensity earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter Scale shook Andaman islands Saturday morning, MeT office said in Pune. The quake hit the islands at 1009 hrs and its epicentre was located at a latitude 11.3 degree North and a longitude of 91.3 degree East.  

Officials say the second strong earthquake in two days has shaken India's Andaman Islands. The Indian Meteorological Department says the magnitude 6.1 quake hit Saturday evening about 95 miles southwest of the Andaman capital, Port Blair.

Hyderabad, Aug 6 : The toll in the rain-related incidents in Andhra Pradesh rose to 14 today, even as weathermen predicted formation of fresh low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal by August 9, bringing more rains to the state.
