Return of Andre Braugher in TV Series

American actor Andre Braugher stated that he is delightful in appearing on television again after his appearance in the police procedural television series “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”.  On the episode aired at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday at NBC network, Braugher played the character of an influential defense prosecutor defending a suspect charged with rape.

The actor acknowledged last Wednesday that he took pleasure in playing a lighter character on the television comedy-drama series “Men of a Certain Age” but he was delighted in drama portions as well. His character in the “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” made both the New York Police Officer and lawyer of the complainant realize a run for their money while defending the deprived accused.

Andre Braugher might probably best known for his character as Frank Pembleton, a passionate detective in the series “Homicide: Life on the Street” that was aired from 1993 to 1998. He might also be well recalled as Thomas Searles in the movie entitled “Glory” that is an American War film and Owen Thoreau Jr. in the program “Men of a Certain Age” on TNT channel.

Being Thomas Searles in 1989 in the movie “Glory” was the debut role of Braugher in the movie circle. His role was an educated black from the North who stocked together with the first black troop in the Union Army. Following his appearance in the big screen, he moved to television. He starred in “Homicide: Life on the Street” as a self righteous Jesuit detective. In fact, he was the break out star in the series. In 1997 to 1998, he received recognition from Television Critics Association for her performance in drama. In addition, he was also nominated for the category best actor in a drama series in Emmy Awards both in 1996 and 1998. He received the award in 1998.

In spite of being the break out star in the series and receiving an award from it, Braugher left the series following its sixth season. However, he rejoined with other cast in the reunion film of the series. He was chosen by the executive committee of the magazine People as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World. He played the major character in Henry V in Shakespeare in the Park Festival of New York City held on June 18 to July 14, 1996 at Delacorte Theatre in Central Park. He received an Obie Award for his performance in that project.

Braugher played the role of Ben Gideon in the United States medical drama series “Gideon’s Crossing” in the year 2000. About two years after, he served as the narrator in the documentary entitled “Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet” that was produced by Unity Productions Foundation. He also portrayed the role of a detective in CBS television network series “Hack” starting 2002 until 2004. He appeared in “Thief” as the leader of a robbery crew. He received his second Emmy Award for his performance in that miniseries. He starred in the movie “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” as well as in the series “House M.D.” as Dr. Nolan. Aside from those projects, he appeared in some other films along with numerous shows on the television.
