Tennessee owner Bud Adams sure seems to know his quarterbacks, and now his Titans are no longer winless after he prompted a switch to Vince Young. He threw for a touchdown in his first start since the 2008 season opener, Chris Johnson set a franchise record by rushing for 228 yards, and the Tennessee Titans won their first game of the season by routing the Jacksonville Jaguars 30-13 Sunday. The Titans (1-6) had been the only winless team left in the NFL along with Tampa Bay, which had an off week, and Tennessee's skid of eight straight went back to the end of last ... Read Full Story

The Jacksonville Jaguars should be able to sell a few more tickets now. David Garrard threw for 323 yards and three touchdowns, two to Mike Sims-Walker, and the Jacksonville Jaguars dismantled the Tennessee Titans 37-17 Sunday. Garrard shredded Tennessee's injury depleted secondary, often picking on rookie cornerback Jason McCourty, and Jacksonville's defense made the Titans (0-4) look, well, like a winless team. Announced attendance was 49,014 at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, the second straight home game blacked on local television. Owner Wayne Weaver said this week he would consider playing some future games in nearby Orlando — a wake-up call to fans. The Jaguars (2-2) ... Read Full Story

Jaguars star Maurice Jones-Drew might not be 100 percent when the season begins after bruising his lower right leg Thursday night against the Washington Redskins. X-rays were negative, but Jones-Drew was scheduled to have an MRI exam Friday. Although Jones-Drew has been fairly durable in three seasons, he could be slowed heading into the season opener at Indianapolis. Jones-Drew hurt his leg on the opening series when cornerback Fred Smoot tackled him following a short reception. Jones-Drew exchanged words with Smoot and safety LaRon Landry before leaving the field. He slammed his helmet to the ground, then headed to the locker room. Jaguars coach ... Read Full Story

Playing just three series in Jacksonville's preseason opener, David Garrard was pressured often, knocked down several times and sacked once. With Garrard under center, the offense managed just 28 total yards. He completed 4 of 7 passes for 22 of those yards and managed only one first down. It was an ominous start for a team that opened training camp with hopes of casting aside last year's troubles and getting back to being a physical offense capable of moving the ball in a variety of ways. "We're still working to be where we want to be," running back Maurice Jones-Drew said Wednesday. "Obviously, with ... Read Full Story
