Karl Rove was granted a divorce from his wife of 24 years, Darby, last week, a family spokesperson has confirmed.
Dana Perrino told
Politico, "The couple came to the decision mutually and amicably, and they maintain a close relationship and a strong friendship. There will be no further comment, and the family requests that its privacy be respected."
Rove was senior adviser and deputy chief of staff for former President George W. Bush until he resigned in 2007. It was rumored that Rove's work for the Bush administration came with pronounced marital stress. Rove and his ex-wife have one child together, 20-year-old Andrew Madison Rove.
