Andrey Golubev defeated Jurgen Melzer 63 75 to win the German Open Title in Hamburg, his first ATP Tour title.
Melzer has shown the best form of his career recently by reaching the Roland Garros semi-finals and was chasing his third career title but he was not able to do it.
Golubev got a single break point to claim the first set, which he controlled most of the time.
During the second set, Melzer battled hard to find his way back into the match. He created five break chances, but he was unable to convert. Golubev took his third break opportunity of the set to clinch victory, earning a €228,000 cheque as he did so.
