The Andy Griffith Show

The "Andy Griffith Show" originally aired from 1960 through 1968. This is truly one of televisions most cheerful as well as honest comedy series. Andy Taylor, the easygoing sheriff, his easily excitable cousin/deputy, Barney Fife and other eccentric residents of the small town of Maybury will keep you laughing while epitomizing family values and the importance of community.

The strong relationship between Andy and his son Opie is the source for many of the show's discussions about right and wrong and accepting the consequences of one's actions. Though most of the storylines are rather simple, the show has withstood the test of time due to it's emphasis on kindness and simple honesty.

In reference to the long running comedy series in which he was the star, Andy Griffith had this to say. "Everything we said on the show we believed. I suppose that's what made it work. We never went for something we didn't believe. It was a good eight years for me, I'll tell you that."

In summary, "The Andy Griffith Show" offers timeless lessons about strong family values, being kind to others and taking responsibility for your actions. It's a clean, picturesque example of simple life in a small town.
