You do make some.I think that is tells your body to make the defected hemoglobin. But you shouldent worry about ti unelss your african descendantnot sure but check out mayoclinic.com and it will give you the complete story;………………idk. i remember hearing about that in science, but i didnt pay attention well eough, thats why i failed the classThe two clauses in your “or” question do not contradict each other.
“Ok so do the sickle
cell genes (its recessive) tell your body to make the defected hemoglobin”
is correct.
“or does it just mean that you have inherited the defective gene from your parent?”
is also correct.
If this doesn’t answer your question, then you need to explain your question more clearly, because I don’t understand what you’re confused about.
UPDATE:
“to be more specific I was confused if you start MAKING the defective hemoglobin as a result of have the sickle cell disease
or you just inherit the defective hemoglobin GENE from the sickle cell genes.”
You keep asking about hemoglobin genes and sickle cell genes. They are the same thing. You inherit a HEMOGLOBIN GENE from your parents that codes for hemoglobin PROTEIN. When this hemoglobin gene, that you inherited from your parents, is defective, you produce DEFECTIVE HEMOGLOBIN (hemoglobin is a protein). Having defective hemoglobin causes very bad symptoms in your body that can make you die at a very young age. When a doctor evaluates your symptoms, he will say that you are suffering from the DISEASE sickle cell anemia.
thus, you inherit the defective gene –> which causes you to produce defective hemoglobin –> which causes disease
Defective hemoglobin CAUSES the disease. You do not make defective hemoglobin AS A RESULT of having sickle cell disease, unless what you mean by “having sickle cell disease” is really just “having the defective gene”
Hope this helps.

Professional Psychologistu got it from ur parent and make the defected hemoglobin
Sickle cell anemia is an inherited, lifelong condition. People who have sickle cell anemia are born with it. They inherit two copies of the sickle cell gene, one from each parent. People who inherit a sickle cell gene from one parent and a normal gene from the other parent have a condition called sickle cell trait.
Sickle cell trait is different from sickle cell anemia. People with sickle cell trait don’t have the condition, but they have one of the genes that cause the condition. Like people with sickle cell anemia, people with sickle cell trait can pass the gene on when they have children.I think you are slightly confused about the way in which genetic inheritance works. Your genes do not directly have characteristic and it is wrong to think that a gene is resposibly for a genetic disease or even so much as eye colour. Genes only directly effect the way in which your body produces proteins, from which they form all the cells in your body. So a genetic disease is caused when your genetic make up causes your body to produce proteins of defective variety.ya sickle-cell disease is inherited in the autosomal recessive pattern, same way as the blood type hair color, eye color…
and the types of hemoglobin a person makes in the red blood cells depend upon what hemoglobin genes the person inherits from his or her parents
Recessive” means that two copies of the gene are necessary to have the trait, one inherited from the mother, and one from the father. A person who has only one recessive gene is said to be a “carrier” for the trait or disease, but they do not have any health problems from “carrying” one copy of the gene. Most people do not know they carry a recessive gene for a disease until they have a child with the disease.
As mentioned above, a person who “carries” one copy of an autosomal recessive gene is usually not aware they carry the gene, because they do not show any signs of the disease or condition. It is estimated that all people carry about 20 recessive genes that cause genetic diseases or conditions. Usually a person does not know they carry a recessive gene unless they have the disease in their family, or if they have had an affected child.
