Mets likely to keep Angel Pagan and his salary........

By Dominick DiFucci on  From metschronicle.com
The Mets signaled for the first part of the offseason that Angel Pagan likely was out, and that the organization was looking to go in a different direction in center field. More recently, they have signaled that Pagan will not be non-tendered at the Dec. 12 deadline, meaning he would remain and get a raise from the $3.5 million he made in 2011. One logical reason for the turnaround was evident Wednesday. David DeJesus, a credible alternative, signed a deal with the Cubs that guaranteed him...Read Full Story

By Dominick DiFucci on  From metschronicle.com
According to Adam Rubin of ESPNNY.com, Angel Pagan said blood tests performed Monday found no abnormality that would account for the dizziness and fatigue that forced him from Sunday's game and recently had troubled him. Pagan assigned the fault to dehydration. Terry Collins expected Pagan would return to the lineup Wednesday. Jason Pridie is starting a second straight game in center field Tuesday. "I'm ready to go out there and start working out with the team," Pagan said. "I'm not in the...Read Full Story

Angel Pagan on the comeback trail from DL

By Dominick DiFucci on  From metschronicle.com
Angel Pagan is nearing a return from the disabled list, but Terry Collins said he's unsure whether the center fielder will be activated after two more games with Class A St. Lucie. The alternative appears to be having Pagan make an intermediate stop with Triple-A Buffalo to face higher-caliber pitching. Since resuming a rehab assignment, Pagan has played two games with St. Lucie, going 1-for-8 with a homer and a walk. He played seven innings in center field Wednesday, then served as DH in a...Read Full Story

Is Angel Pagan Johnny Damon?

By msilva177 on  From nybaseballdigest.com
It has been a breakout year for Angel Pagan. He’s gone from enigmatic to a talented member of the core. As a matter of fact many would have predicted Lastings Milledge or Fernando Martinez being in Pagan’s position at this time. I started to think about what Pagan’s ceiling is and who he compares to in the game. The best name I came up with is Johnny Damon, especially the younger version from Kansas City. Damon in 1999 had 14 homers, 77 RBI, 36 SB, and an OPS of .856. That is roughly the type...Read Full Story
