Angelina Jolie Controls What Magazines Say About Her

She's married to sexy Brad Pitt, she has six precious kids, she does tons of charity work - she's a UN Ambassador, for heaven's sake. Combine all of that with her stunning looks and general fabulousness on the red carpet, and it is pretty impossible to dislike her. But there may be a reason we all love her so much.

The New York Times reported that when Angelina and Brad sold an interview and the first photos of their twins to People in August, the agreement stated that the magazine wouldn't publish anything negative about the Jolie-Pitt crew, now and in the future. How did they manage that? This was the deal they wanted, so they negotiated between other celebrity news magazines that were clamoring for the spread, and the one who agreed to censor itself one the big prize. Jolie knew the story would be big enough for her to leverage some authority over the situation. This is all coming out now from a couple of anonymous people who were involved in the talks.

People's August 18th issue with the Brad, Angelina and the beautiful new babies was an overwhelming success, the magazine's best-selling issue in seven years.

A People spokesperson is denying the claims in a statement:

These claims are categorically false. Like any news organization, People does purchase photos, but the magazine does not determine editorial content based on the demands of outside parties. Bonnie Fuller, the former editor of Us Weekly and Star magazines said:

She’s scary smart. But smart only takes you so far. She also has an amazing knack, perhaps more than any other star, for knowing how to shape a public image. Fascinating, right? I'm starting to feel like my mind is being controlled by Angelina Jolie.
