Did Angels in Waiting Set Up Octomom?

Days after Nadya Suleman dismissed Angels in Waiting by refusing their services in helping to take care of her 14 children, new details reveal that Angels founder Gloria Allred may have been setting Suleman up to fail.

IS IT ETHICAL FOR ANGELS IN WAITING TO ENTER NADYA SULEMAN'S HOME WITH AN AGENDA TO PROVE SHE'S AN UNFIT MOTHER?

Angels in Waiting filed three complaints with Child Protective Services in its first day with the Suleman children, setting a tone for conflict, not cooperation with Octomom.

In her latest rambling, half-coherent interview with Radar Online (which has exclusive rights to follow her around with cheap video cameras), Suleman explains that her feelings toward the Angels varied from uncomfortable to unsafe. Octomom complains that the Angels primary job seemed to be watching her for mistakes, not helping with the kids.

"I felt as though I was constantly being interrogated," Suleman said.

Suleman says the volunteer nannies would stop talking whenever she entered the nursery, and that she "felt they were doing what they could to set me up to fail."

Now we all know Suleman is kinda nutty, so I tend to take her quotes with a dose of cynicism. But after watching Gloria Allred's talk show appearances Wednesday morning, it looks like she might have been right.

Allred emphasizes that the Angels volunteers were there to help and the three complaints filed with Child Protective Services were an ethical, and legal, obligation. But in her appearances on CBS's Early Show and NBC's Today show, Allred sounded like someone who had been looking for a reason to get the children away from Suleman. She says the Angels nurses "weren't there for her. They were there to protect the children."

Suleman's attorney, Jeff Czech went so far as to call AIW's services a "Trojan rocking horse." Even when Allred says something sensible, there's an accusatory tone to it.

"We were concerned about endangerment," Allred said on the Early Show. "And apparently nadya does not understand that a nurse is a legally mandated reporter. That is, a nurse is required by law to report to the authorities, to child protective services if they believe a baby or a child in their care is endangered, at risk of harm, neglected, they have to report that."

If it turns out the Suleman children are better off taken from Nadya's custody, then that's fine with me. Whatever is best for the children should be done. But if the Angels in Waiting entered Suleman's home with an agenda -- to prove Nadya is an unfit mother -- then for once, Octomom is right. They should stay the hell out of her house.
