Once sea-turtle hatchlings hit the surf, they vanish for up to five years. Where the half-dollar-size tots spend these "lost years" while ballooning to the size of dinner plates has been a mystery, until now. New research, published today in the online edition of the journal Biology Letters, indicates the green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas) hide out in the open ocean, where they feast on jellyfish and other marine creatures. Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration, divisions of Sea Research Foundation, Inc., is now home to four sea turtles – Charlotte, a juvenile green sea turtle, and three loggerhead sea turtle hatchlings. If not for the black and white spots, and oh yeah, lack of trunk, you might confuse this massive cow for an elephant. But Chili, isn't meant to be this big. The British black and white Fresian bullock is about the same height as a small elephant, and weighs a little more than a ton. But Chili's size isn't a result of cow feed pumped with steroids or anything like that. On October 24, 2009 we are hosting our 12th annual 5k Run for the Ridley. We are a non for profit organization that rescues sea turtles,whales,dolphins and seals. We currently have 5 seals and 4 sea turtles and 1 Ridley sea turtle thats endangered.
