Britain's Largest Cow, and Other Animals That Defy Normal Size

If not for the black and white spots, and oh yeah, lack of trunk, you might confuse this massive cow for an elephant. But Chili, isn't meant to be this big.

The British black and white Fresian bullock is about the same height as a small elephant, and weighs a little more than a ton.

But Chili's size isn't a result of cow feed pumped with steroids or anything like that. His diet consists primarily of grass, and his owners at Ferne Animal Sanctuary in Somerset can't explain why he's so big.

When he was just six-days-old Chili was abandoned on the sanctuary's doorstep. They took him in, and nine years later, he's still growing, and is now over six feet tall.

Naomi Clarke, manager of the sanctuary, said they've sent an application to the Guinness Book of Records to make Chili the largest cow in Britain.

Sounds like the making of some good hamburgers to me!
