La Dolce Vita

Forgive my substandard photography and write it up to drinking limoncello and jumping in fountains. Well, symbolically anyway.

Mr. Blandings and I were out on the town last night to visit the opening of La Dolce Vita, 1950 - 1960: Stars and Celebrities in the Italian Fifties at Hall's on the Plaza. I wore heels. And red lipstick. It was wonderful.

Vintage photography of movie stars cavorting in Italy combined with iconic pieces from Gucci - what more could a jewelry junkie want?

Not a thing, but to take the opportunity to note Cary Grant's patent tuxedo slippers with the grosgrain bow to Mr. Blandings and make the point of, well, "I told you so." Those moments don't come along every day.

The exhibit, which celebrates the golden years of Italian cinema, is a portion of the pieces being shown at the Mercati di Traiano Museum in Rome. If you are in the throng (I said "throng", not thong) at the Plaza Art Fair, take a moment to escape the crowd in the jewelry rooms in Hall's. The exhibit will remain until October 1st. The gold bamboo hoops are forever.
