Google co-founder Sergey Brin has expressed amazement at resistance to the Internet giant's efforts to digitize the world's books and lamented a deal to have Microsoft handle online search at Yahoo! Mountain View-based 23andMe Inc. announced Friday that Linda Avey is leaving to start an Alzheimer's research foundation. Avey launched 23andMe in 2006 with Anne Wojcicki, wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin. The company analyzes people's DNA to detect potential health problems before they occur. Google co-founder Sergey Brin made a surprise appearance at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco today. He spoke briefly with John Battelle. Of note, Brin said that he’s excited about Twitter’s success because it’s interesting for him to see entrepreneurs that succeed twice.
