Annie Le is a Yale Grad Student who went missing from New Haven, Connecticut, Sept. 8, 2009. Her body was discovered in the basement of a labratory on the Yale campus. Annie Le disappeared without contacting any friends or family.
Cheering For Justice?
Many know of the awful, tragic outcome of the intensive search for a missing, Yale graduate student, Annie Le, age 24. It was little than a week ago Ms. Le was not to be seen, she seemed to had vanished. Her body was found last Sunday, September 13th, the day of Annie's planned wedding to Jonathan Widawsky. It was located by police inside the lab wall at Yale University where Annie had worked hard toward a career as a lab pathologist. Her case was ruled from missing person to homicide.
Investigators did not face a immense challenge closing in on likely suspects of Le's murder. The killer made a dumb mistake in taking her life-the location of the crime. Access to the lab was strictly controlled by Yale University using 75 digitally monitored, security cameras surrounding the building. Authorities came to know who was inside the building at what time and when during Le's death likely on September 8th. Not for me to overlook-it is a grave error itself more to kill a person, even the desire to want someone dead is wrong.
Image from NYDailyNews.com and Yale PoliceIt is possible that the key suspect did not want Annie dead. He might had been lovesick for her and wanted her for himself. Police had cornered on this lab technician who had university clearance to work at the school lab. This person, Raymond Clark III had strong, romantic feelings for Ms. Le for which she did not returned. Mr. Clark may had failed to honor her pending marriage. His broken heart, the pain of rejection may had led to the murderous act. Raymond was questioned by authorities and had already failed a polygraph exam given by the FBI. It has been noted that Mr. Clark had scratches on his chest related with a struggle. Annie may had fought to get away from him.
Hollywood movies may play a favorable tune on unfulfilled, romantic love. The guy or main character often gets the girl, right? A man or woman falls 'in love' with someone of the opposite sex. Yet in the case of Annie and Raymond such feelings are not mutual. I had learned to see this kind of romantic love as non-love, an unhealthy, unbalance and self-centered passion. True love promotes respect for the fellow individual.
An reasonable, caring person may understand his world will not come to an end if his attraction to a person goes unanswered. As many had confirmed-life will go on. Coping with this disappointment may result in increased maturity and inner strength toward a better future. Mr. Clark may had lost that and much more if he had killed Annie. I had said 'if'. Even if possible evidence points to Clark, he has not yet been proven guilty in a court of law. It has been reported by news sources that Mr. Clark is cooperating with the authorities.
Investigators searched Mr. Clark's apartment yesterday evening for any indication leading to Le's murder. They will also run DNA tests on him. When New Haven Police lead Raymond away in one of their autos from the apartment complex he lived at the people residing there clapped and cheered! Why did they do this, was justice being served in behalf of Annie, her family and friends?
It certainly could not be complete since Raymond was not found guilty. In fact he was allowed to depart from authorities this morning as a "person of interest". There may be other details we are not aware of and still to be uncovered in the investigation. And there might be other persons of interest or suspects. We might come to know that the lovelorn tale between Annie and Raymond may not be accurate or truthful. Maybe it's an assumption produced by strong rumors or attention getting news sources. Are those who clapped and cheered at the apartments be putting their foots in their mouths?
