Photo by Juan Miranda/Chivas USA On the year's scariest night it's perhaps apropos to chat with veteran Chivas USA striker Ante Razov, known as one of the moodiest players in MLS and one you always want to make sure is in a reasonably good one before approaching his locker after a game. So perhaps it's for the best this interview was conducted via e-mail. Still, Razov comes into the post-season fifth all-time in goals (11 in 33 games) and third behind active players (although neither D.C. United's Jaime Moreno or Toronto's Carlos Ruiz can add to their totals since their respective teams failed to ... Read Full Story

Ante Razov's deciding goal. Photo by Scott Varley Before we get started, take a deep breathe and read this fine piece of journalism on Chivas USA midfielder Sacha Kljestan and his father. I'll wait. But then we figured Kljestan would be going to the Olympics, didn't we? The squad will officially be announced at 10 a.m. today (Thursday). Other nuggets: *Midfielder Paulo Nagamura, who suffered a mild concussion during the match, and defender Jonathan Bornstein will be suspended for Sunday's game against New England because of yellow-card accumulation (2 apiece). *We were discussing in the press box about the tie-breakers in SuperLiga given the ... At the end of last season, Chivas USA striker Ante Razov downplayed the likelihood of returning to the club and in the off-season was connected to Mexican team Leon. But Razov returned to preseason camp with Chivas USA and the club announced today he has signed a new, presumably one-year deal, although terms were not announced. But in what's becoming a regular occurrence for the veteran who turns 35 next month, Razov underwent arthroscopic surgery Friday on his right ankle to remove bone spurs. No word on how long he's out of full training. Razov, who has scored 114 goals over 13 MLS seasons ... Read Full Story

Because what's a team photo without the toll of the injured? Here are the latest additions to the walking wounded: left back Ante Jazic is listed as questionable for Sunday with a concussion and Eduardo Lillingston (!) is probable with a left hamstring strain. First I've heard of either of them. The team photo was taken today at the just-concluded "24 Hours of Chivas USA" at L.A. Live. No Abel Xavier there. (From left to right) Top row: Justin Braun, Bobby Burling, Jim Curtin, Dan Kennedy, Zach Thornton, Lance Parker, Atiba Harris, Sasha Victorine, Shavar Thomas, Ante Razov Middle: Carey Talley, Sacha Kljestan, Athletic ... I hate to say it, but Chivas USA is “technically” one of the worst teams in the history of MLS . They have never won the MLS Cup or a Supporters Shield; in fact, they have never made it past the quarterfinals in the playoffs. They also have never advanced past the Round of 16 in the US Open Cup. Their mantle is completely devoid of a trophy of any kind. I say “technically” though because Chivas has only been around for four years, so one cannot expect them to have a rich history yet. Plus, they are a team on the rise, having ... Read Full Story
