VERONA, Miss. (WCBI) -- A veteran Union County law enforcement officer takes over today as police chief in Verona. Union County Sheriff's investigator Anthony Anderson was hired Tuesday night by Verona's Board of Aldermen to lead the 12-person department. He started work Thursday.  

VERONA – Union County Deputy Anthony Anderson was chosen to become the new chief of the Verona Police Department. Anderson was selected by the town's aldermen this week and began on the job on Thursday. He replaces Leo Mask, who was elected sheriff of Pontotoc County.
