This is probably the best news we could get for The Wolfman at this point: "Rated R for bloody horror violence and gore." I don't know how much interest that can generate on its own, but any port in a storm, or so they say.
Now here's the deal: This thing could still be pretty good. The cast is uniformly strong, with Benecio Del Toro , Anthony Hopkins , Emily Blunt , and Hugo Weaving , and it's such a great story that if they get the effects lined up, there's a chance.

The last thing needed was for this it to be mauled and cut to ribbons by a scared studio, therefore limping out on release as a lame, well, mutt. There would have been howls of derision! And Universal would have lost a lot of money.
So we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief because it’s finally out in February 2010 and Universal have announced the American cut will receive an ‘R’ rating. This bodes well for other countries. In the UK, The Wolfman will no doubt get the ‘15... Read Full Story
