At English National Opera, Anthony Minghella’s 2005 staging of Puccini’s Madam Butterfly has become a repertoire standby, a production that can be relied on to keep the box office busy. Since Minghella’s death in 2008, his wife, Carolyn Choa, has handled the production, remaining faithful to his conception.
