De’Anthony Thomas may just be the fastest man on the planet.
I have no idea whether that’s true or not, but after watching the video footage of this insane 91-year touchdown run during yesterday’s 2012 Rose Bowl, it’s hard to think of anyone on the planet who could have caught him.
In the closing seconds of the first quarter of Monday’s Rose Bowl, Oregon QB Darron Thomas handed the ball to the freshman running back and he exploded up the middle, literally disappearing in a flash.
Thomas blazed past two linebackers and a safety, prompting Oregon running backs coach Gary Campbell to raise his right arm and point to the end zone, predicting the inevitable.
“As soon I saw him break into the secondary, I knew that he was gone,” Campbell said. “If you looked a the field you’d see me on the sidelines, I just knew that his speed was so superior to those guys (Wisconsin defenders) that if he ever got out in the open he was gonna make some big runs.”
By the way, Oregon won 45-38.
