Why is it that so many Black male Republicans who offer themselves up to the news media as the "voice of the party" are such tools? I know I could write something a little more nuanced with a social dissertation of how achievement and politics collide. But let's get down to the nitty gritty shall we? This isn't to say all Republicans of either gender are lacking in humanity. Or that those in the Democratic Party are so divine. CONGRESS IS A SHORT TERM CIVIC DUTY, NOT A CAREER! As a career, a seat in Congress (or in any elective body) becomes a conflict of interest. An incumbent who is seeking reelection cannot freely vote his conscience, or his principles, for fear that he is going to offend some slice of the electorate, and therefore reduce his chances of reelection. Obviously, one way to correct this problem is to reduce or eliminate the option for reelection. In other words, establish either one or two term limits on all offices in government. In all the cacophony among the pundits, editorialists, and bloggers about the ... Read Full Story

By Marc Chamot Now Trent Lott then Chuck Hagel, John Warner, and so on these bunch of sour losers and crybabies are leaving the Senate when in reality they left a BIG MESS behind that may take decades to clean up. Incumbents were sharply rebuked Tuesday night in elections all over Iowa, matching a national trend that’s giving Republicans a glimmer of hope going into 2010. Iowa's municipal elections are non-partisan, so it will be hard for either party to claim victory. But after years of Democratic dominance of election night, an evening where most high-profile races saw incumbents roundly rebuked is being celebrated in Republican circles.
