Now that he has dropped the identity of “Agent Zero” perhaps we should start referring to Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas as “IQ Zero” as that would seem to be accurate after the revelations that have surfaced over the last couple of days. The “Washington Post” has reported Arenas is being investigated for weapons that he stored in his locker in the Wizards home locker room.
Arenas allegedly is stating that he wanted to get the weapons out of his house after the recent birth of his daughter. Arenas reportedly stated that now that he has two daughters he no longer wanted firearms stored in his home. Apparently the old Crapolla hit the fan on Thursday; it has not been revealed if Arenas told the team about the weapons or if they were discovered by a Wizards employee.
Washington issued a statement about the situation on Thursday. The statement read “The Washington Wizards have learned that Gilbert Arenas stored firearms in a locked container in his locker, unloaded and without ammunition. The Wizards organization and Arenas promptly notified the local authorities and the NBA, are cooperating fully with law enforcement during its review of this matter and will have no further comment at this time.”
New York Vinnie has never understood the attraction that weapons hold for Pro Athletes. They certainly make enough money that if they truly feel threatened they can hire licensed and bonded security men who will keep them far safer than carrying a weapon could. Or is it part of that “Gangsta Mentality” that makes them carry weapons? Rap artist “Lil Wayne” wanted to be a “Gansta” and he will soon be spending some time in the Frickin Gray Bar Hotel as a result of it.
Arenas has not as of this writing been charged with a crime by law enforcement officials. At this point the only thing that has been bandied about is speculation. The Wizards could also face punishment from the NBA whether or not he is charged with a crime.
NBA players are given jobs because of their athletic ability not because of their Frickin brains. If that player gets shot then that player’s athletic ability would become severely compromised. So it just makes Frickin common sense that an NBA player would never want to put themselves in that situation where they could be shot. As New York Vinnie wrote up top if you are that worried about your safety hire a Frickin security team; don’t try to be “Scarface” we all know how he ended up!
