Actor Bernie Hamilton, best known for his role as the police captain Harold Dobey on “Starsky and Hutch” died Tuesday at age 80.
Hamilton died of cardiac arrest at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, said his son, Raoul Hamilton.
He appeared in more than 20 films, including “”Synanon,” “The Young One, “The Devil at 4 O’Clock” and “Walk the Walk.” He also appeared on a number of television series before “Starsky and Hutch.”
After the TV show wrapped up, Hamilton spent the next 20 years in the music business producing R&B and gospel records under the record label Chocolate Snowman.
