Rolle Says Taylor’s Killing was Not a Random Act
While the police have already stated that the shooting and killing of Redskins safety Sean Taylor was a “random” killing, Arizona Cardinals cornerback and childhood friend Antrel Rolle is going the complete other way when it comes to why Taylor is no longer alive. Rolle is speaking out stating that Taylor was a target, and that the killing was not just a burglary gone bad. “This was not the first incident,” Rolle said. “They’ve been targeting him for three years now. He really didn’t say too much, but I know he lived his life pretty much scared every day of his life when he was down in Miami because those people were targeting him. At least, he’s got peace now.”
Rolle and Taylor both had fathers that were involved in the police force in Homestead, Florida. They had been playing football together since the age of six, and despite the fact that Rolle had not spoken to Taylor for sometime, he claims that Sean had enough people out to get him that made his a deliberate act. “They say it was a burglary. It absolutely was not a burglary,” he said. “Down South, where we’re from, there were many people targeting Sean, a lot of jealousy, a lot of angry people. Sean, he had a large group of friends, and he no longer hung out with those friends, so you never know where this came from.”
The Cardinals corner will be at the Memorial service for Taylor on Monday in Miami. He says that for now, the thought of not having Taylor as a friend is a thought that has yet to really hit him. “It really hasn’t hit me yet,” Rolle said, “the fact that I’m never going to see his face again, his ways, him performing on the field. My heart goes out to his girlfriend, his family, his little kid.”
