Anvil Goes On Tour In Support of New Album, Documentary

(Getty Images)more pics »Hair metal rockers Anvil seemed destined to be a footnote in the annals of pop music history until a documentary made about the band blew critics and fans away earlier this year. Now, riding on a wave of newfound popularity, Anvil is hitting the road for a 30-date North American tour the likes of which it hasn't enjoyed since the band's heyday in the early '80s.

Singer Steve "Lips" Kudlow, drummer Robb "Geza" Reiner , and bassist Glenn "G5" Five will kick off the tour Jan. 7, 2010 at the House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio. If you haven't seen the documentary yet, don't worry, it will be shown at each date in its entirety. After the screening, the band will come out to peform a set of classic Anvil songs along with selections from the new album, "This is Thirteen."

Anvil has even put together a special "VIP Anvil Experience" package for 50 lucky fans at each show. The package consists of the concert ticket, the new CD, a DVD of the documentary, a fanny pack (just like Lips wears!) and a meet-n-greet with the band. Tickets go on sale Friday, Oct. 9.
