Vancouver Olympics: Best-Ever US Medal Count in a Winter Games

It's been a good Winter Games for Team USA -- and the games don't end until tomorrow! This year, the US has managed to haul the most medals America has ever won in a Winter Olympics. It took a lot of hard work, but it has paid off big time. After Apolo Anton Ohno and his US relay team in the 5000M speed skating event last night, the medal count for the US was 36. Apolo Anton Ohno Wins 8th Olympic Medal

Apolo Anton Ohno already sealed the deal as the most decorated Winter Olympian ever last week with 7 medals, and he took it just a step further by winning his 8th medal, a bronze, last night in the 5,000-meter relay. He was disqualified in the 500-meter individual race prior to that. Ohno was disqualified for slightly bumping into Francois-Louis Tremblay of Canada, causing him to crash just before the finish line. Apolo Ohno Wins Bronze for Record 7th Olympic Medal

Apolo Anton Ohno won bronze tonight in the men's 1000 meter short track, and so by doing became the most decorated American athlete in Olympic history. The previous record, six medals, was held by long-track speedskater Bonnie Blair. Lee Jung-Su of South Korea took gold in the 1,000 while his countryman Lee Ho-suk won silver Saturday. Apolo Anton Ohno, a decorated US speed skater who is most known for his soul patch and blue bandana after his insanely fast skating, won a silver medal in the 1500 M short track last night in Vancouver.
