Apple Cider Vinegar Weight Loss…Is there any proof?

Famed folk medicine author, D.C. Jarvis, M.D. spent many years practicing medicine in Vermont

and observing the effects of home remedies. Dr. Jarvis determined that apple cider vinegar was a method of weight loss that was widely used throughout the region.

In his classic best selling book called “Folk Medicine” Dr. Jarvis noted that using apple cider vinegar for weight loss was  an effective way to lose weight

in a gradual manner. He also stated that unlike other unnatural weight loss methods, the weight loss resulting from use of apple cider vinegar was both gradual and permanent.

After performing many studies and observations, Dr. Jarvis found that it would be typical for a woman of average height who weighed 210 pounds would drop to 180 pounds after routinely taking 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water at each meal for 2 years.

The women in this study essentially loss 15 pounds per year, by simply consuming apple cider vinegar as prescribed above and avoiding intake of fatty food. Other than that the women maintained their typical daily food intake.

That’s 15 pounds of weight loss a year, with no change in daily food intake, except avoiding excessively fatty foods. If you’d like to check out some actual case studies performed by Dr. Jarvis, you can find them in another book he wrote entitled “Cider Vinegar” by Cyril Scott.

A more recent study that validates apple cider vinegar as an effective weight loss tool was conducted by nutritionist at the Arizona State University East, professor Carol S. Johnston.
Professor Johnston conducted a 4 week study investigating the benefits of apple cider vinegar on diabetes.

Professor Johnston was surprise to determine that people who she studied in this experiment were losing weight as a result of consuming 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar before meals, twice a day. Among those who participated in the study, the average weight loss was about 2 pounds over a 4 week period. Several people in the study loss up to 4 pounds. Those in the control group who consumed no vinegar at all showed no change in weight at all.
