Saturday. Usually the day before Easter is spent shopping for new shoes or clothing for your bi-annual trip to Church (the other being at Christmas). This weekend Apple has given even you geeks a reason to head to your nearest store. And there’ll be nothing more exciting than seeing little Apple geniuses scurrying about, dying to answer your questions on their revolutionary tiny notebook. Earlier today, Apple announced they are changing the names of two of their existing products to give a complete range of iPad products.

Press Release: For Immediate Release
1 April 2010
Apple Cupertini, California. (April 1, 2010)
Apple, the only major company producing anything that anyone will buy if Steve Jobs has his hand in it, announced today that they are adding two new models to compliment the Saturday release of their new iPad product line. Rather than release new products, however, two existing products will be renamed.
The current iMac will be renamed the iMaxi Pad, and the iTouch will be renamed the iMini Pad. “By giving our customers these new computers, they will have the opportunity to use a Pad that fits their needs without having to use the same size all of the time,” said Tasha Bricks, spokeswoman for Apple.
If you already have either an iMac or iTouch and purchased it in the last twelve months, you can run System Updater, and the new OS for iPad will download and update your Operating System after Saturday, April 3. This will allow your iMaxi or iMini to use the new features found in the iPad. Each time you reboot the computer, you will see the iMaxi or iMini logo on your screen so that you know exactly what size iPad you’re using.
“Our goal is to make our customers as comfortable as possible when they’re using their Pad. A new product can be confusing and by renaming computers they already use, we hope to eliminate unnecessary trips to our Genius’ bar.”
“I’ve had to listen to those guys,” said Ms. Bricks, “and even I think they just don’t understand what I need all of the time.”
Apple’s revolutionary idea of renaming products that already exist will save millions on marketing, research and development, and packaging, the company said. With the savings, Apple says that Mr. Jobs will be hard at work on his next major release. The “iNotNamed” is scheduled to begin buzzing the web within the next three weeks.
