Life without Aramis Ramirez

By ClarkAddison on  From blog.cubhub.net
It’s been a tough week for sluggers named Ramirez. Of course Manny’s undoing was of his own making.  But all-star Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez having dislocated his left shoulder in last night’s game is a tremendous blow to this team. There was a lot of talk as spring training broke of having no legitimate backup for A-Ram who has proven year after year that he will be injured a few weeks every season. The Cubs have productive but fragile starters at third, left and right fields. Just 29...Read Full Story

Chicago Cubs Aramis Ramirez Pleads The Fifth On Cockfighting

By carnitas on  From machochip.com
There's no reason to talk about steroids infiltrating baseball when buzz-worthy professional ball players are partaking in blood-dripping, mortal combat between roosters. That's what Aramis Ramirez is bringing to the table now that he's been outed as a premier, head honcho of cockfighting. But don't ask him any questions about the New York Times article that put the spotlight on his secret life. He's as tight-lipped as steroid user in front of Congress. It took only a minute or so before...Read Full Story

Dominican update: No Aramis Ramirez

By zimbee on  From anaheim.info
Aramis Ramirez (pictured) is borrowing a line from Santa Ana’s own Garry Templeton. ESPN Deportes is reporting that Ramirez has decided to not play for Dominican Republic’s World Baseball Classic team, making the announcement after Alex Rodriguez showed up at Tuesday’s workout at Boca Chica. The Cubs’ third baseman’s stance is similar to that of Templeton, who in 1981 was chosen to the NL All-Star team as a reserve. Ramirez doesn’t want to be A-Rod’s caddy. “If I ain’t startin’, I ain’t...Read Full Story

Chicago Cubs Player Felix Pie Twists Testicle...

By carnitas on  From machochip.com
The Chicago Cubs are hexed. Someone, somewhere implored mystics and voodoo dolls 100 years ago and put a mega-hex on the Cubbies. As of today, Alfonso Soriano (broken finger), Mark DeRosa (heart), Jose Ascanio (bruised face) and cockfighting kingpin Aramis Ramirez (shoulder) have all been sidelined due to injury. Cubs' fans probably shouldn't worry because it's so early in the baseball year, but when Felix Pie pulls up with an odd injury, people might want to speculate that this could be a...Read Full Story

Aramis Ramirez Dislocates Shoulder

By Ryan Lester on  From lesterslegends.com
Image courtesy of Icon SMI Aramis Ramirez’s roller coaster season took another dip when he dislocated his shoulder last night in a loss to the Brewers.  Ramirez injured the shoulder while diving to field a Ryan Baun grounder.  He is likely to miss a few weeks as the injury heals. Aramis is having an outstanding season for the Cubs hitting .364 with 4 HRs and 16 RBIs.  This is his second serious injury though.  Earlier in the year he missed six games with a calf injury.Read Full Story

Aramis Ramirez’s Trade Value

By Brian Corbin on  From bullpenbrian.com
Aramis Ramirez’s trade value is skyrocketing. Mr. Clutch has made a dramatic comeback from his disappearing act through the first two months of the season. His game-tying home run Thursday off Giants’ closer Brian Wilson, who had not allowed a HR in his last 44 outings, comes on the heels of his game-winning walk-off hit Wednesday night! That gives Aramis 8 HR and 19 RBI in his last 23 games. A June turn-a-round which also includes a .296 average this month. And history warns us the third...Read Full Story

Aramis An NL All Star

By Brian Corbin on  From bullpenbrian.com
Another one-run loss for the Cubs, and another bomb for Aramis. Ramirez, last week named the NL Player of the Week, remains one of the hottest hitters in baseball. His 14th HR of the season wasn’t enough offense Wednesday night, but the slugger has virtually carried the Cubs’ lineup during the past two weeks. Over his last 14 games…he’s batting .375 with an MLB-best nine home runs, including three doubles, 15 RBI & 16 runs scored. His 1.381 OPS during the run is only second to the Rockies...Read Full Story

Aramis Can Still Carry Cubs

By Brian Corbin on  From bullpenbrian.com
Aramis Ramirez had one his best at-bats of the season Saturday night–albeit an eighth inning walk to load the bases. His 11 pitch battle against Matt Albers helped turn a close game into a rout. And Ramirez looked a lot like his old self again: a focused hitter thriving under the greatest pressure. I’ve said many times Aramis was my MVP pick for the Cubs’ division winning teams in 2007-08. He came up big time-and-time again, in all sorts of situations, but especially the clutch. I saw ‘that...Read Full Story

Granderson Price Likely Too Steep for Cubs

By ClarkAddison on  From blog.cubhub.net
Well meaning Cubs fans are loudly advocating the team to dump Milton Bradley and move to acquire Curtis Granderson to play center field and lead off for the 2010 Chicago Cubs.  At first blush, perhaps that would be a fine swap. But realistically I just don’t see how it can happen without an extrordinary alignment of the planets. Bradley will likely hit about .300 with an on-base pushing .400 for someone next season. Granderson should post 25+ HRs and perhaps improve upon most of his...Read Full Story
