Said your mistaken if you thinking that I am gun' go cold before As you bit into your strawberry lace, And then a flip in your attention in the form of a gobstopper, Is all you have left and all is going to waste. Your past-times, consisted of the strange, And twisted and deranged, And I love that little game you had called, Crying lightning, And ... Read Full Story

July 27, 2009 Janice Chou Over the weekend, the Arctic Monkeys released the music video for their new single " Crying Lightning ." "Crying Lightning" is off their upcoming album Humbug due out on August 25. The video features the Arctic Monkeys in a glorified gondola that apparently has an amazing sound system. The Arctic Monkeys ride around in a tumultuous sea until they encounter giant translucent versions of themselves in the sea. It makes sense that they would be scared of themselves-- aren't we all our own worst enemy? Our own worst critic? Think about it, I haven't. Meanwhile, check out the video ... Read Full Story

With “Cornerstone,” Alex Turner turned in what’s likely his best vocal performance and lyrics yet. It’s also the songwriter playing maybe his most unsympathetic character — approaching new girls begging to call them his ex’s name, finally finding someone willing to comply in his ex’s sister — and delivering it with a voice and melody to make him sound like a wounded puppy with no other choice but to find his last love’s doppelganger to fuck. It’s love, after all, or at least he’s doing a decent job of convincing us that’s how love is for three minutes. And yes, the rest of the ... Read Full Story

Arctic Monkeys, On tourYou can take the band out of Sheffield but you can't entirely take Sheffield out of the band. That would seem to be the case with the Arctic Monkeys, and their new album, Humbug. Recorded with Josh Homme in the California desert, then mixed at Electric Lady studios in New York, it might be seen as an attempt to establish the group as part of a robust rock heritage. More riff-based even than Favourite Worst Nightmare...
